Hercule Poirot

Hercule Poirot adalah tokoh fiktif dari Belgia sebagai seorang detektif yang dikarang dalam 33 novel oleh Agatha Christie. Dikisahkan bahwa Poirot lahir di Belgia serta bekerja sebagai polisi di Belgia kemudian pindah ke Inggris setelah Perang Dunia I dan memulai kariernya sebagai detektif swasta.

Ciri khas Poirot adalah berperawakan kecil, kepalanya berbentuk telur, dan yang paling khas adalah kumis mirip sakera yaitu kumis hingga ke pipi dan menjulang ke atas. Untuk pakaian Poirot cenderung berdandan rapi dan necis. Karena obsesinya akan kerapian dan keteraturan sangat tinggi, tak jarang Poirot mengkritik orang lain yang memakai dasi dengan miring.

Pencipta Hercule Poirot adalah seorang wanita yaitu Agatha Christie yang mempunyai nama lengkap Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie. Jika kita membaca novel fiksi detektif maka kita akan dipertemukan dalam kisah dengan teka-teki yang tidak sekedar sulit untuk dipecahkan, namun juga perlu ketelitian untuk memecahkannya.
